Transmit Audio and Video Through SDI Feeds
SDI feeds are a foundational piece of remote production, especially for long distances. These digital feeds can be compared to HDMI cables, which also transmit audio and video signals from a source to a display. SDI feeds can be far superior than HDMI for remote production due to their reliability and further distance(s), sometimes up to three-hundred feet. Their locking system is what helps provide their reliability. This is accomplished through BNC connectors, so you can rest easy that accidental device disconnections are minimized.
Understand IP Links And Remote Production
IP links stream audio that has been converted and compressed through audio decoders. Most units provide digital and analog output signals after decoding has taken place, usually live. These signals are then transmitted to IP networks. Although SDI routers have benefits in the right setting, IP routers may be the right choice due to their network capabilities. While SDI routers can connect reliably to an input, SDI routers allow connection to several different networks at once. One well known form of IP networking is a VPN, which allows secure access for users while preventing unwanted eyes from viewing data transmissions. Non-public IP addresses provide security and require a NAT (Network Address Translation), or firewall. Then the router is assigned to public or private IP addresses.
